HCMC - The Ministry of Transport has given the green light to the HCMC Department of Transport to open a bus route from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to the coastal city of Vung Tau, a little more than 100 kilometers from HCMC.
The new bus route will be managed by Avi Go Joint Stock Company (JSC).
Following the plan submitted by Avi Go JSC to the HCMC Department of Transport, the bus route will be used by 34-seat vehicles that were transformed into 19-seat ones to create more space.
Apart from free wifi, the back of each seat will feature a TV screen to entertain guests on the three-hour journey from the airport to Vung Tau City.
The fare for the bus route is some VND180,000 per person. Some 30 buses are expected to travel to Vung Tau and back. The company said the number of buses will be increased to match passenger numbers.
The bus will travel along HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Highway and National Road 51 to Vung Tau. Passengers will be picked up at fixed stations.
Passengers bound for Hanoi or other localities who wish to take the Vung Tau bus can make a booking online in advance. On arriving at the airport, those passengers are guided to the bus parking area by the company’s staff.
For those who wish to travel from Vung Tau to Tan Son Nhat airport, the company will contact the airlines to help passengers complete their check-in procedures and get through security on arrival at the airport.
The HCMC Department of Transport said the bus route was opened to serve the increasing demand of passengers, as well as to organize the transportation services at the airport.
