All you have to do is make the hike up a generous set of stone stairs, enter the statue, and perch on its shoulders for an impressive view of the ocean.
It is a long trek but there are some stops for trekkers to take a break, drink water and take some photos of the sea and surrounding areas below. Luckily, there are several places to stop along the way to catch your breath or admire the view.
The path is decorated by many trees and flowers, especially plumeria flowers, spreading its fragrance around the location. The site is not only an attraction for tourists but also a site for fit locals to do some morning exercise. The hike to its base will take at least 30 minutes.
Once inside, you’ll climb the 133- step staircase leading inside the Statue. These narrow at the top, especially in the final exit onto the statue’s shoulders, and get quite narrow and short for a larger Westerner. The stairs on the way up can be quite awkward as well; some are too tall while others are too short.
There is a dress code: your shoes must be removed and no tank tops are allowed. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to sweat.
I believe that visiting Jesus Statue and White Palace will be your unforgettable experience in your trip to Vung Tau.
